Jodie Kidd to start 12 hour race!

Our Christian Belcher will be taking part in the British Lawnmower Endurance race at Billingshurst on Saturday 6 August. Jodie Kidd will be dropping the flag for the ‘Le Mans style’ start.

“We are the only team (The Long And Short) not trying to defend our trophy from last year’s race. We won the ‘Heineken Worst luck Award’ trophy. We broke down several times and the mower trailer became detached from the engine twice, the second time being minutes from the end of the race!” said Christian.

Teams of three drivers (male and female) compete throughout the night at speeds approaching 50 mph – and without any form of suspension other than a padded seat, ouch! Last year’s event saw a new distance record of 354 miles!

If you would like to cheer Christian’s team along you will need to look for number 61 on the mower this year.

The venue is Five Oaks, near Billingshurst in West Sussex RH14 9AE – just off the A29. Qualifying, which is open to the public, starts at 3.45 pm, with the race commencing at 8.00 pm.
