Ensuring Safety in Public Service Buildings

Effective communication in emergency situations is crucial for ensuring the safety of the public and personnel in public service buildings such as Courts, Barracks, Government Buildings, and Prisons. In these facilities, it is important for safety managers to have reliable methods for quickly alerting individuals and guiding them to safety.

Traditional fire alarm systems, with their loud bells or sirens, may not be effective in these types of buildings where individuals may be engaged in important tasks or confined in secure areas. Clear and concise messages must be communicated to prompt individuals into taking the necessary actions in case of an emergency, whether it be a fire, bomb threat, or any other life-threatening situation.

Baldwin Boxall’s VIGIL voice alarm (VA) systems provide a controlled evacuation solution with pre-recorded voice messages. This system can greatly benefit public service buildings by ensuring that clear evacuation instructions are given in a timely and organised manner.

In addition to voice alarm, the EVC (fire telephone and disabled refuge) and emergency assistance call systems may also be required in these facilities to cater to the needs of the most vulnerable. An OmniCare Emergency Voice Communication system or CARE2 Emergency Voice Communication system can be installed to meet these needs and provide total assurance to building occupants.

Our VIGIL voice alarm systems are designed and built in the UK to the highest standards, with reliability and longevity in mind. All systems comply fully with relevant standards including BS5839-8, EN54, BS5839-9, and BS8300 (for the emergency assistance/disabled toilet alarm).

With sophisticated and user-friendly zoning, routeing, and full audio path monitoring facilities, as well as dedicated battery backup systems, Baldwin Boxall’s audio management systems provide complete solutions for public service buildings. The modular design of our products allows for flexibility in system design, ensuring that we can provide a customised solution for any public service facility.
