Desktop Telephone Paging Interface Facility
Utilise your telephone system to make public announcements
Telephone Paging Interfaces allow Public Address systems to be integrated with telephone systems*. They enable a telephone handset to be used as a paging microphone by ‘dialling-in’ to the system.
With our BT5 or BT8 installed, staff are able to make voice announcements from their desk telephone by dialling into an assigned extension number.
Free-standing units act as an interface between the telephone system and the public address system.
* Digital systems will require an adaptor (widely available for most system types).
BT5 Telephone Paging Interface
- Connect to a telephone extension socket and the public address amplifier
- Fully approved by BT (approval number: S/2455/3/H/452969)
- BT5 provides users an acknowledge tone followed by a chime (optional OPT33 fitted) – live broadcast announcement can then be made
- After the broadcast is made, the BT5 will disconnect from the PA system, releasing the telephone extension ready to accept another call
- Outputs are selectable from line or microphone level
- Priority level control available
BT8 Telephone Paging Interface
- Use to broadcast live announcements
- Additional facility to enable users to pre-record announcements, reducing the risk of feedback where the telephone is adjacent to a loudspeaker
- When connected to a telephone system with MF signalling, BT8 enables the user to select up to eight zones via the telephone keypad
- An internal selector determines if the recorded message is played once or twice
- Can be wired into any two-wire analogue extension port via a designated master extension socket – alternatively, connect BT8 into the paging port available on most modern telephone switches (N.B. BT8 is not designed to operate on keyphone system extension ports)
- Outputs are selectable from line or microphone level
- Signal output and zone select connections via a 25 way D connector
- Compatible with our BDM300 range of desk microphones (connected via the BMS25 socket box supplied with the microphone)
- We recommend using our B81R relay unit for the zone select switching
Important Information
- BT8 is not approved for direct connection to the BT network. Under general approval NS/G/23/J/100003 it may be connected to a port on a telephone switch (PABX).
- BT8 should only be used with a switchable amplifier input.
