BFM400 is a range of fully monitored Emergency Fire Microphones for the VIGIL voice alarm system.

Baldwin Boxall Emergency Fire Microphones are housed in a robust, lockable steel enclosure and include a rugged, fist-held microphone console.

The main panel buttons and indicators are protected by an overlay which allows for zone labels to be inserted for easy and quick button identification.

With a ‘speak now’ indicator and a simple bar graph display which indicates the current speaking volume, users can ensure a clear announcement is made.


  • Single zone BFM401 can be set to connect via RS485 or a parallel hard-wired connection
  • BFM404 and BFM408 multi-zone microphones communicate with the main control system via an RS485 communications link
  • ‘Zone select’ buttons and ‘all call’ button
  • Fist microphone capsule can be set for either monitored or unmonitored use during configuration
  • Option to fit a ‘processor bypass’ hard-wired press-to-talk switch
  • Option to fit flip-top switches to enable DVA (digital voice announcement) messages to be broadcast
