CARE2 EVC System Installation – Manual
The ‘CARE2 Installation Manual’ provides comprehensive instructions for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the CARE2 Emergency Voice Communication System. This system is designed to integrate Disabled Refuge Remotes, Fire & Emergency Telephones, Disabled Toilet Alarms, and Fire Telephone Sockets & Storage Enclosures into a single monitored communication network, compliant with BS5839-9 standards.
Key Points:
- Environmental Conditions:
- AC Supply Voltage: 230V ± 10% RMS 50Hz AC
- DC Supply Voltage: 21V to 27.6V (Nominal 24V) DC
- Operating & Storage Temperature: -5°C to +40°C
- Humidity Range / IP Rating: 0% – 90% Non-Condensing / IP30
- Equipment should not be installed in areas with corrosive atmospheres, excessive moisture, or where it may come into contact with water or other liquids.
- General Safety Precautions:
- Personnel must read safety information before starting work.
- Continuous operation: equipment should be permanently connected to the mains supply.
- The equipment does not contain an external mains switch.
- An all-pole Switch / Circuit Breaker with a separation of 3 mm in each pole must be incorporated into the electrical supply spur feeding the unit and must be suitably marked.
Warnings:
- Power Supply:
- Ensure the equipment is correctly earthed by connection to an AC mains supply with a protective earth connection.
- Hazardous voltages (over 30V RMS AC or 50V DC) can be lethal.
- This product contains wiring and terminations energized to 230V RMS AC mains.
- Maintenance and Functional Testing:
- It should only be undertaken by personnel fully aware of the danger involved and who have taken adequate precautions and training.
- Terminals marked with the “High Voltage” symbol require installation by suitably trained personnel.
- If mains supply is disconnected, hazardous voltages are still accessible on terminals marked with the “High Voltage” symbol.
- Battery Backup:
- Note the presence of battery backup; hazardous voltages may still be present if the mains supply is disconnected.
- Always replace blown fuses with the correct type and rating. If a fuse continues to blow, further investigation is required.
- High Current Delivery:
- 24V DC batteries can deliver extremely high currents that can cause burns or fire. Ensure tools or jewellery do not cause a short circuit.
Important Notes:
- Electro-Static Sensitive Devices (ESDs):
- The product contains ESDs. Relevant precautions should be observed when handling this equipment.
- Compliance:
- Designed and manufactured to conform to CE & UKCA requirements.
- Failure to use the equipment as described in the product literature will invalidate conformity.
- Declarations of Conformity and Performance are available on request.
- Mounting and Connections:
- Ensure all mounting points are used to secure consoles and other equipment.
- Use fire-rated screened cables to ensure the best audio quality.
- Follow specific procedures for adding and connecting line cards and network cards.
- Disposal:
- Disposal of the product must be in accordance with the WEEE directive.
