Baldwin Boxall Issues the Red Cord Card!

The problem: red emergency pull cords are often tied to hand rails, cut too short or placed in a ‘non-accessible’ way which renders them unusable as an emergency assistance alarm – which completely defeats the reason that they are installed in the first place! For instance, a person that falls to the floor should be able to reach out and pull the cord to raise the alarm and call for assistance – as set out in BS8300-2-2018.

The solution: a card that fits to the cord which clearly states that the cord must be allowed to hang freely.

The Euan’s Guide, a disabled access charity, runs a campaign to make tens of thousands of accessible toilets safer. Their Red Cord Cards are available free of charge to individuals based in the UK.

Nick Baldwin, Sales & Marketing Director at Baldwin Boxall, commented “We are proud to support Euan’s Guide with their supply of cards from their website and the important work that they continue to do. By donating to this very worthwhile cause, we are also able provide a card with our assistance toilet alarm kits to help to spread the word about the importance of a free-hanging cord enabling a person to call for help, should they need to.”
