Meet Pete Groombridge: Navigating Success at Baldwin Boxall

Pete Groombridge, our Systems Test Engineer, has embarked on a journey that spans over five fruitful years at Baldwin Boxall. His story is a testament to the exciting opportunities that can unfold within our team.

A Dynamic Career Evolution

Pete’s Baldwin Boxall odyssey has taken him through various roles within the company, each contributing to his growth and development. His current position, a testament to his determination and commitment, aligns with his original career aspirations.

“I have worked at Baldwin Boxall for over five years now, in a few different positions. My current role is what I had originally hoped for when I joined the team and I’m fortunate enough that this arose. No two days are exactly the same and I enjoy the variety that my job affords me. I feel very lucky to get up every morning looking forward to coming to work!”

Every Day, a New Adventure

For Pete, the thrill of his job lies in the diversity of tasks he encounters daily. He thrives on the ever-changing landscape of challenges, bringing a fresh sense of excitement to his work. This passion fuels his eagerness to come to work each morning.

From Temp to Permanent

Pete’s journey started as a temporary employee, providing holiday cover in the Goods In Department. During this period, he gained valuable insights into the exceptional work culture at Baldwin Boxall. Fortunately, a permanent opportunity arose in the Despatch Department, a role he successfully secured.

“I started as a temp to give holiday cover for a month in the Goods In Department. While covering that role I realised what a good company Baldwin Boxall is to work for and fortunately a permanent position arose in the Despatch Department – which I applied for and was successful.”

A Passion Beyond the Office

In his spare time, Pete is an avid angler. His dedication to the sport has earned him full sponsorship from the renowned fishing tackle giant, Maver. Since the age of 16, Pete has represented his hometown of Tonbridge in the British National Championships. His achievements include remarkable promotions, advancing from Division 6 to Division 1 and competing against World Champions and England Internationals.

A True Contender

Pete’s angling prowess is evident from his impressive performance at the South East Reservoir Championships. The competition allows up to six attempts to qualify for a two-day final. Pete’s skills and determination led him to secure a spot in the final, where he competed alongside some of the best Team England Internationals. His eighth-place finish out of 64 talented anglers in the final is a testament to his excellence in the sport.

“I am a keen angler in my spare time and I have full sponsorship with the fishing tackle giant, Maver. Since the age of 16 I have represented my home town of Tonbridge in the British National Championships, gaining promotion from Division 6 to Division 1 – fishing against World Champions and England Internationals.

Last year I fished the South East Reservoir Championships, in which you can have up to six attempts to qualify for a two day final. I qualified on the second round to go through to the final – this also included some of the best Team England Internationals. To finish eighth out of 64 anglers on the final was a very good result!”
