Type A Outstations Steward Telephones for the OmniCare EVC system provide two-way, full duplex, speech communication
Steward Telephones form part of an Emergency Voice Communication (EVC) system at venues such as Stadia, Museums, or other places where the safety of the public is paramount.
A Steward Telephone is one of the outstations available in the OmniCare Type A range, offering two-way, full-duplex voice communication. A full-duplex system enables both parties to communicate with each other simultaneously.
OmniCare is an addressable Emergency Voice Communication (EVC) system allowing Disabled Refuge, Fire Telephones, Steward Telephones and Emergency Assistance/Toilet Alarms all to be connected to one control panel.
OmniCare has been designed and built by Baldwin Boxall in the UK and complies to BS5839-9:2021. It also meets BS8300-2:2018 for the emergency assistance/toilet alarm.
Features:
- Rugged red handset with ‘T-Coil’ hearing aid compatible earpiece and loudspeaker
- Calls are initiated by opening the door of the enclosure
- Full duplex speech, digital audio, via the handset
- Hands free use also possible
- Conference facility via the master control panel
- Each Steward Telephone is powered and monitored directly from the loop
- Available with a green finish
- ‘Push catch’ and ‘slot lock’ door options available
- Supplied with or without attention drawing ‘beacon’ (supplied separately and can be unit, wall or ceiling mounted)
- All outstations are surface mountable, with the option to flush mount using a bezel, which is available separately
- Steward Telephones can be included with other types of outstation on an OmniCare or OmniCarePLUS system

BS5839-9 is a code of practice for those who install, maintain and commission EVC systems, giving guidance on how to install an effective system as part of a fire detection and alarm system covering all components including wireless.
BS9999 is a BSI Standards Publication providing guidance for fire safety in the design, management and use of buildings. It includes the provision of evacuation methods and placement of EVC systems.
