VIGIL3 Ethernet Networking

VIGIL3 is built on a dedicated, fault-tolerant, Ethernet backbone with a range of networking options.

The VIGIL3 Voice Alarm system is built on a dedicated, fault-tolerant, Ethernet backbone with options for copper, fibre single-mode or multi-mode, or any combination of these on a single system network.

The range of options includes:

  • Fire-rated CAT5 (or equivalent)
  • Multi-mode fibre (fire-rated)
  • Single-mode fibre (fire-rated)

All networking options support up to 64 simultaneous live audio channels.

Network cabling is realised via modules which are fitted to the rear of a rack – with a matching pair of modules at each end of a cable. These modules are added to the system as required, in any combination on a single system. It is possible, therefore, to easily employ copper, multi-mode and single-mode fibre on one VIGIL3 network, should it be needed.

In addition to the networking modules, further modules are available to facilitate connection to other equipment or services – such as GPIO, fire panels, and more.

It is also possible to include both Eclipse5 wall mounting units and 19″ rack enclosures on the same cabling network.

As you can see, the VIGIL3 system is entirely modular – including inputs, outputs, amplification and connectivity options – thus providing an infinite number of design and networking possibilities.

VIGIL3 is suitable for any sized voice alarm system – from the very small, to the very large (up to 800 outputs, 400 inputs and 254 monitored messages are possible). It is also ideal for both centralised and de-centralised system networking.

  • BV3CIF is a DIN rail mounted connection to copper network sections (2 x BV3CIF required per line)
  • Up to 100m between nodes
  • Fire rated CAT5 (Draka FT Data)
Fibre Network
  • BV3FIFS single mode module
  • The BV3FIFS is a DIN rail mounted connection to single mode fibre network sections (2 x BV3FIFS required per line)
  • Connection to BV3A0M8 (network out) or BV3AIM2/4 (network in) connector
  • LEDs to indicate ‘Ethernet Connection OK’ and ‘Fibre Connection OK’
  • Industry standard SC connectors for fibre termination
  • Supports single mode fibre types:
    • OS1 (9/125) – typical maximum distance of 2km
    • OS2 (9/125) – typical maximum distance of 4km
  • BVR3FIFM multi-mode module
  • The BV3FIF is a DIN rail mounted connection to multi-mode fibre network sections (2 BV3FIFM required per line)
  • Connection to BV3A0M8 network out or BV3AIM2/4 network in
  • Connector LEDs to indicate ‘Ethernet Connection OK’ and ‘Fibre Connection OK’

UKCA UK Conformity Assessed

UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking on products replaces CE marking in the UK and requires that certification of construction products, such as VACIE / Voice Alarm Control & Indicating Equipment is performed by a UK-based approved body.

British Standards BS5839-8 Code of Practice
BS 5839-8 is a BSI Standards Publication code of practice providing recommendations for the design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of voice alarm systems that automatically broadcast speech or warning tones, in response to signals from their associated fire detection and fire alarm systems.
